Amsterdam the city of legalised drugs, prostitution and more......
We went to Amsterdam for a long weekend with our friends & it we had a ball. However it's actually quite deceiving obviously everyone has heard the stories and about the ladies in the Windows but this part of Amsterdam is actually quite small.
In terms of transport to get around definitely get yourselves a Amsterdam Card. These last for a few days and can be used on the trains, trams etc. Definitely handy to get in and out of the city and if you want to do all the tourist attractions also.
Tourist stuff:
- Anne Frank House. If you want to visit here make sure your there early but still be prepared to queue, we arrived early on a Sunday morning before it opened and still had to queue for 3-4 hours. So be prepared but it's definitely a interesting part of history.
- I Am Amsterdam sign. You have to mess around and get silly photos in the sign even though for us it poured down with rain we still made it fun.
- Canal boats. There loads of different boats to go on and some are just to get drunk on while others are to see the sights.
- Sex show. There are plenty of live sex shows but make sure you look around and some are too expensive or double in sight.
- The Windows in the red light district. There are plenty of ladies in the Windows (and men if you go to the blue light district) but don't take any photos your not allowed. Your guaranteed to see a lad out of his group of mates go in while all his mates stare and laugh.
- The sex museum. Another part of Amsterdam's stories but still funny and a must with your mates.
- The cannabis museum. If your interested in this you even get to smoke it while your in there.
- Coffees/shops/bars. There are plenty to choose from whether you just want a drink, want to smoke it or want to have a piece of cakes there's loads to choose from to suit all types.
- Ice Bar. We loved the ice bar freezing and getting drunk. Plus you get coats and gloves to wear too.
- Heineken factory. This was actually really good and something that the whole group of us all did and had fun. You get to learn how to pour your own pint as well as a free pint to drink. You can even get engraved pint glasses which looked amazing.
Amsterdam is a very beautiful city. I know most people go for a stag or hen do. Or a funny weekend with there mates but there is actually so many beautiful sights and things to do. So enjoy it and have fun.
You can get cheap flights there and depending on the year not usually in August and July though but you can get hotels reasons too. Just make sure you have enough friends as prices vary in bars.
